Monday 11/30– 8th Grade (3*, 4*)
·         SWT 11/24 – An Attitude of Gratitude, does it really matter?
·         Blues Music Compilation
·         Blues Idea list and Draft

Homework:  On a white 8.5x11” paper (either portrait or landscape) create your Shape Poem.  Google “Shape Poem” and check out the images for inspiration.  Use most of the page; type it or create final draft in ink (colored ink is fine).  Due tomorrow.

Choose a novel you haven’t read before (can be fictional, non-fiction, historical fiction, biography or autobiography) and bring to class tomorrow.

·         Stocking for Holiday Board
·         Root of the Week – “cogna”
·         Multi-Media Review Presentation
·         Hand out and Review Reader’s Journal #1 (RJ) – Sign up Book
·         Hand out t-shirts

Homework:  Read 30 minutes each night and fill out RJ #1 (Reader’s Journal) – due this Thursday 12/3 (needs to be verified and signed by parent)

This Wednesday = team t-shirt day!  Wear your new team t-shirt or sweatshirt.

Tuesday 12/1 – 8th Grade (2*, 3*, 4*)
·         Stocking for Holiday Board
·         Root of the Week – “cogna”
·         Multi-Media Review Presentation
·         Hand out and Review Reader’s Journal #1 (RJ) – Sign up Book
·         Finish Blues Poem Draft


Homework:  Read 30 minutes each night and fill out RJ #1 (Reader’s Journal) – due this Friday 12/4 (needs to be verified and signed by parent)

Wednesday 12/2 – 7th Grade (6*, 7*, 1*)
·         SWT 12/2 and sign up book for independent book project
·         Finish comparison sheet for “Lamb to the Slaughter” and Alfred Hitchcock Presents
·         Start essay outline (we’re building the essay skeleton as a class)

Homework:  Read 30 min and fill out RJ (Reader’s Journal) #1 – due tomorrow.  Be sure to have verified and signed by a parent.

Wednesday 12/2 – 8th Grade (2*, 3*) and Thursday 12/3 (4*)
·         SWT 12/2 and 12/3
·         Love That Dog – p. 54-67
·         List Poem draft in Composition Notebook

Homework:  Read 30 min and fill out RJ week 1 – due on Friday (Get it verified and signed by a parent!)
Ice Skating Reminder for Monday 12/7

Thursday 12/3 – 7th Grade (6*, 7*, 1*)
·         SWT 12/3
·         Turn in RJ (Reader’s Journal) #1 and review/hand out RJ #2
·         With the substitute teacher = Scope play “The Mystery of the Stolen Jewel” and close-read questions (stapled into comp book)

Homework:  Read 30 min and fill out RJ week 2 – due Friday 12/11 (Be sure to get verified and signed by a parent!)

Friday 12/4 – 8th Grade (2*, 3*, 4*)
·         Collect RJ (Reader’s Journal) #1
·         Review and Hand out RJ #2
·         Glue in Comp Book Notes from previous homework (homophones you’re and your; adverb endings)
·         Finish Love That Dog
·         Hand out and Review all poetry drafts in our comp books from the entire unit
·         Start draft of “Extended Family Metaphor”

Homework:  Ice Skating on Monday.  Bring a lunch/cash; dress appropriately for outdoors.
Read 30 min and fill out RJ #2 – due Thursday 12/10
Take home comp book and complete “Extended Family Metaphor”.  Then, review all poem drafts and finish any that are incomplete.  Due Tuesday 12/8 (2*) and Wed 12/9 (3*, 4*)


Friday 12/5 – 7th Grade (6*)
·         SWT 12/5
·          Glue in Comp Book Notes from previous homework (homophones you’re and your; adverb endings; nonfiction terms list)
·         Finish Essay Outline for Compare/Contrast essay
